How long does it take to receive your PfCO from the CAA? (From the date of Submission)

A question we get asked time and time again is how long does it take to receive your PfCO (Permission for Commercial Operations) from the CAA?

First things first – before everything can be submitted to the CAA you need to double check that everything has been completed!

The most important parts to check are:

·      Theory Exam

·      Flight Test

·      Completed SRG1320

·      Signed off Operations Manual

·      Insurance Policy

·      Photograph of Drone(s) (This is can be a stock image!)

·      Minimum of 2 hours documented flying time

As your training NQE, Aerial Motion Pictures will complete a few more documents on your behalf (First time submissions only) This is all part of the ICARUS Training Service and you do not have to worry about these!

There is a fee for the submission to be made to the CAA  and as of 2017 this has increased slightly…

(0-20kg) First Time Submission - £173

(0-20kg) Renewal Submission - £130

Adding Night Approval - £173 (Can be added at any stage)

If this is not your first time submission and you are in fact renewing your existing license, you do not need to pay an NQE to do this for you! – There is a fantastic blog post about this that you can read by following this link here http://www.open-sky-consulting.com/blog/2017/2/9/how-to-renew-your-caa-pfco-pfaw-directly-with-the-uk-caa

Has everything been completed?

We hope that by the time you read this you can confidently say that you have done everything on your part.

We will deal with the submission itself and you will receive a submission receipt on that day for your records.

Please note

Once the payment has been TAKEN allow up to 28 WORKING DAYS for you to receive your LICENSE.

We cannot contact the CAA until it has exceeded 28 working days from the CAA receiving payment from your aplication.

As a tip, from our experience, although it is great to get jobs lined up for as soon as you are qualified…. - We would suggest that you give yourself 2 months to get your license through before you book days in. Booking jobs too soon can cause a lot of difficulties and unfortunately we cannot hurry your submission on your behalf purely because you have booked in a job.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
